The Summer of Whittenberg is a series of week-long day camps and stand-alone classes that are being put on by Whittenberg Country School and the Folk School of Whittenberg. The seven weeks of activities run from June 10 to July 26. Morning sessions are from 9-12, and are geared toward 7-11 year-olds. Afternoon sessions are from 1-4, and are designed for 10-14 year-olds.
The FSoW & WCS summer program is organized into the following thematic weeks:
June 10-14… Shakespeare week [including practice with Shakespearean insults and with stage combat]
June 17-21… gardening classes
June 24-28… arts & crafts classes
July 1-5… space science week [including an evening of stargazing]
July 8-12… cooking classes
July 15-19… odds & ends classes
July 22-26… engineering week [including the building & testing of model bridges]
There are also three Saturday programs, for archery (June 15), kayaking (July 6), and geology (July 27).
The three week-long day camps cost $75 each, with a discount if a youngster is signed up for double sessions. Each folk school class is $20, with a discount if a youngster is enrolled in five or more classes. Contact Mr. Whitten at email@example.com for further information.
