Summer of Whittenberg

The Summer of Whittenberg is a series of week-long day camps that are being put on by Whittenberg Country School and the Folk School of Whittenberg.

Each week will offer both a full-day & a morning-only option, Monday-Friday; the full-day option includes the opportunity to swim in the afternoon.  Each week’s enrollment is limited to 10 youngsters (7-14 years old).

Check out the following choices for a fun, hands-on, outdoor summer!

June 15-19  Water, Water…

Get wet & stay cool.  Including boat-building, dam-making, kayaking basics, and pottery (a.k.a. playing with mud)…

June 22-26  Astronomy 101… (+ evening stargazing)

It’s totally far out.  Including building simple telescopes, operating an orrery, creating scale models, and blasting out craters…

June 29 – July 3  Wildcraft…

Go wild & get crafty.  Including archery, rustic shelters, foraging for food, and wilderness first aid (a.k.a. the just-in-case)…

July 6-10  Shakespeare…

The play’s the thing.  Including stage combat, memorization games, technical theater, and Shakespearean insults…

July 13-17  Wild Critters…

Go hog-wild, etc.  Including making paper-mache animals, bird-watching, tracking, and camouflage (a.k.a. the disappearing trick)…

July 20-24  Engineering…

It’s not rocket science… except when it is.  Including blacksmithing, bridge-building, solar-powered cars, and a bit of rocketry…

July 27-31  Archaeology & Paleontology…

Get dirty & get digging.  Including simulated archaeological & paleontological digs, arrowhead making, fossil casting, and reconstruction (a.k.a. playing with bones)…

The full-day option runs from 8-3, and costs $120 per week; the morning-only option runs from 8-12, and costs $80 per week.  [The schedule is subject to change, based on the pandemic situation, and if anything ends up cancelled, the full amount is refundable.]
